First picture release of the new Vought Corsair F4U-4, which has joined the US Navy Fleet to smash the Japanese airpower in the enemy's homeland. Catagorized in the 425 MPH class and carrying six .50 Caliber Machine Guns, eight five inch rockets and a 200Jesse Davidson ( 1913-1983) developed an interest in aviation at an early age and eventually became an aviation writer and editor in New York City. He was the lead consultant of Time-Life's book, Flying the Mail, as well as the author of Famous Firsts in Aviation. Mr. Davidson's extensive archive of aviation photographs, correspondence and interviews with many of the original U.S. air mail pilots has often been used by researchers.
