Gerald Asher is a third generation aviator; his father served as a corporate pilot for over thirty years, while his grandfather owned and operated a number of private aircraft in the 1930s and '40s. As a self taught artist, he began creating works as a siLTC Ed McIlhenny reefs his General Dynamics F-16C into a hard left break to land at McConnell AFB, Kansas, following his last tactical sortie in the 'Fighting Falcon'. His wife (in the orange dress, left center) stands with his group mates, videotaping the event. within a few weeks, the 184th Fighter Group would cease to exist and the 184th Bomb Group would be the first Air National Guard unit to be equipped with the Rockwell B1B. McIlhenny has since been promoted to Brigadier General. When he isn't fulfilling his role as a 'weekend warrior', Ed can be found in the Captain's seat of an American MD-80 Airliner.
