The Pleyel trade-mark is the legacy of Ignace Pleyel, accomplished musician, inventor of genius, talent-spotter, generous patron of music and audacious publisher. By his death in 1831, Ignace Pleyel had become an established supplier of pianos to Empress Josephine and all the other european courts, and exported his pianos throughout Europe, North and South America and the Eastern world. His son, Camille, a great pianist, continued his work, boosting the family business to new heights. It was under his management that the ""Maison Pleyel"" acquired its international acclaim.
