In 1894 the North American Phonograph Company went out of business and the Bell and Tainter interests formed a partnership Edward Easton's company and became the Columbia Graphophone Company. Edward Easton headed the new company and improvements were made to the Bell and Tainter graphophone then marketed as a musical device.
