'Gotcha' Curtiss P-40C TomahawkThree P-40's peel off to attack a formation of Mitsubishi Ki 21 'Sally' bombers headed for a raid over Burma. In 1941 a group of 'Volunteer' US pilots equippped with 100 new Curtiss P-40's formed the famed 'Flying Tigers'. Headed by Colonel Claire Chennault, their mission was to slow down the Japanese invasion of China and Southeast Asia. The 'Flying Tigers' racked up an impressive record of over 239 victories from December 20th, 1941 to July 6th, 1942
