Scheveningen Summer Beach Resort Poster
Scheveningen is the largest coastal resort of the Netherlands and attracts more than nine million visitors a year. It was first mentioned in 1280 as the fishing village Sceveninghe ('people of Sceve') at some 4 km from the centre of Den Haag. With both villages growing during the centuries, the zone of dunes between them has shrunk to a series of city parks like the Scheveningse Bosjes. Scheveningen belongs to the municipality of Den Haag. The resort has a broad seafront boulevard and a concrete pier with tourist facilities.
