Every Boy Scout A Swimmer
The Boy Scouts of America-incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916-was founded as a character-building, educational program for boys and young adults, with a goal of training these youths in the responsibilities of participatory citizenship, as well as developing personal fitness. One of these fitness-oriented programs is on display here, with a pair of friendly surfers promoting a water sport-oriented innitiative-one that goes well beyond earning a lifesaving merit badge-betwixt the Scout Life Guard and the Life Saving Corps of the American Red Cross. Their potent three word credo? Training, Practice, Safety. Concise American optimism at its finest.
