Bauhaus Ausstellung/50 Jahre
Austrian-born Bayer was one of the original enthusiastic supporters of the Bauhaus movement, and ran its typographical department in Weimar and then became head of the print workshop when it moved to Dessau. Later, he escaped the Nazis and settled in Aspen, Colorado. His bright design for a fifty-year celebratory exhibition in Stuttgart of the movement uses Bauhaus simplicity and economy very creatively: basic geometric shapes, prime colors and easy-to-read sans-serif lettering. It was most appropriate to have Bayer, one of the Bauhaus designers, as its designer.
