London Underground Bicyclisim Poster
Brave man riding large bicycle.Between 1922 and 1944, Cooper created 54 posters for the London Underground. This handsomely colored design for an exhibition on bicycling was one of a series he did on museum destinations. The early bike shown was known as a 'high-wheeler' or, slightly derisivley, as a 'penny-farthing' for its resemblance to the largest and smallest British coins of the period. In 1943 Cooper turned from his career as a graphic artist to become a full-time painter.
