Ball der Stadt Munchen
Beautiful German woman dancing.Dressed in little but her enthusiasm, a ballerina invites us to attend the Munich City Ball. The symbols on the city seal behind her allude to Munich's beginnings as a monastery. Klein's palette here is limited but the brown tones are as sumptuous as the woman's flesh. Originally trained as a painter and sculptor, he was a member of the Munich Secession and appointed director of the city's Academy of Applied Art in 1936. Of the numerous posters he produced, this one is quite rare.
