Olympics
by Jean Droit
1924 Paris Youth Olympic Poster
Olympians raising their arms together.More than 3,000 participants (including 136 women) from 44 countries descended on Paris during the late spring of 1924 for the VIIIth Olympiad. Droit seems to have been a man of several sides: This anthem-like depiction seems more characteristic of the painter who founded the European scouting movement than the illustrator and caricaturist who contributed to Le Rire.
