Bal de la Couture
Profile of fashionable man and woman.1925 was the year art deco intruded upon the conscience of the public, and this is one of the classic images that defined the style. The design was executed for one of the major events of the Paris season, the fashion ball at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, and it was eventually printed in two sizes. This was a charity event, with big fashion houses donating prizes and items to be auctioned off; the tall version of the poster used the added space at bottom to list all the contributors. As can be seen, Lepape made sure everyone understood that the ball represented the height of style.
