Man on skis looks out over snowy landscape.After studies at a school for applied arts in Hamburg, Koch started out taking lessons from a scultpor, but eventually came back to graphics. Forced to move to Davos in Switzerland in 1898 for health reasons, he began making posters for the tourist industry and painting landscapes as a hobby.
