by Robert Falcucci
Bons du Tresor
Wonderful montage of boat and train. An exhortation to buy French Treasury bonds in occupied France during World War II. The bonds will support the ship of state (named for Marshal Petain, leader of the German-controlled collaborationist government of France at the time), as well as projects like a trans-Sahara railroad (which would have given the Germans improved mobility in Africa, where an Allied offensive was feared). Forced to abandon his favorite world of car racing, Falucci nevertheless delivers an imposing, well arranged composition.
