Aviation
by Charles Rambert
Grande Semaine d'Aviation
Man flying low over city in France.Only 7 years after the Wright Brothers' historic flight, aviation was a lively enough sport to merit a week-long jamboree in a French provincial town. The design shows one of the pioneers in a vintage flying machine with an open cockpit soaring above the city. He is shown in the orange rays of the morning sun, in contrast with the purple shadows of the night still clinging to the cathedral walls. Rambert was a Swiss painter who did some graphic work from time to time.
