A design for the Russian release of Charlie Chaplins Circus (Tsirk) Including only two colors and displaying many techniques of the engraver, it is an almost diagrammatic image of Chaplin head over heels in love.Chaplin received a special Academy Award for writing, producing, directing, and acting in this silent two-reeler. With few of the usual laughs, the self-constructed 1928 vehicle has the little tramp, on the run from the police, taking refuge in a circus and falling for an equestrienne. Using only two colors and displaying many techniques of the engraver, it is an almost diagrammatic image of our hero head over heels in love with his circus lady.
