Steamships

French Line
1935 Three ships steaming toward us in glorious union.Surely one of the most extraordinary posters created for the French Line. The jewel in the lines crown, the Normandie, is seen bows-on; its flanked by the Champlain and the Lafayette, the three steaming toward us in glorious union, like Liberte, Eqalite and Fraternite. Their reflections in the water, a second glance reveals, are the Eifel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe; the clear message is that these ships are equally deserving symbols of France; that they are, as labeled, France Afloat. A splendid image.
