Sebille was a successful and prolific maritime artist, many of whose paintings adorned staterooms of French Line ships. His maritime poster for the company are some of the best ever done -not least, this superb view of the France at the doorstep of Le Havre as she weighs anchor for New York. We imagine the awesome sight of her from the windows of those quay-front housed - not to mention the blast of her horns!
