PLM Wagons Lits Railway Poster
The Paris-Lyons-Mediterranee railway advertises the plush Pullman accommodation of its north-south route with an elegant couple and furnishings in matching, rich blue. Despite the countryside speeding by the window, we get a sense of perfect comfort and peace. The Lyons-born Naurac worked in the atelier of Gustave Moreau, a disciple of Matisse and Rouault. Though himself reckoned among the Fauves, Naurac was, according to Benezit, above all an Independant . . . Distinguished colorist, acute sketcher, he excelled at conveying vigorous movement.
