Le Vrai Cake Walk
The Cake Walk was a feature of the ragtime era. It referred originally to the strutting promenade performed by the competing couples in dance contests, the prize for which was often a cake. It evolved into a style of dancing. Apparently, the Nouveau Cirque introduced it in Paris. Laskoff (born Franz Laskowski in Poland) worked for several printers in Strasbourg and Paris, as well as Ricordi in Milan. The posters from his Paris period are especially rare.
