Elegant image bordering on cubism, appealing to the smoker and motorist in all of us...The foreground is a classic object poster, but the treatment of the background harks back to cubism, creating an almost surreal overall impression. Little is known of this American artist who did have a one-man show in London in 1936, the year of this poster. Surely one of the very best of the Shell series.
