Throng of jubilant people walk behind a morose man in a funeral procession.This dockside funeral procession may seem a bit irreverent; however, it is in fact the initiating event which brings the Marseilles saga to a happy conclusion. Cesar takes place twenty years after the events of the previous two films. The processional is, in fact, for Panisse and Fanny's son, who has learned the truth about his heritage, manages to reunite his biological parents - with a bit of help from grandfather Cesar - for a satisfying and happy ending.
