1927 ad for Ottone Olive Oil.To sell olive oil, Mauzan creates a female figure whose bodice and skirt are formed by a head of curly chicory. Partnered by an oversized cruet (with a smiling stopper) and a pair of beribboned serving utensils, she is the perfect salad incarnate. Like Cappiello, Mauzan appreciates the power of black; here, that background takes a delightfully apt idea and gives it graphic guts. This is the smaller version.
