Charlie Chaplin/Abenteur
1929 Charlie Chaplin in The AdventurerEven Chaplin finds himself arresting in this poster for the German release of the Adventurer, one of the most frenetically-paced two-reel comedies produced during his Mutual period. Charlie, freshly escaped from prison, finds himself on the beach with two Keystone-style cops in hot pursuit. He dodges into a posh beachfront residence where a party is underway, managing to mingle while executing a series of superbly-timed evasive actions. Chaplins favorite leading lady, Edna Purviance, was, as usual, the object of his affection, with perennial heavy, Eric Campbell, acting as her suitor whom The Little Tramp must foil.
