Barnum Bailey Nat Reiss High Wire Artists
High Wire Artists perform for the Nat Reiss Show in the early 1900's.Nat Reiss' troupe of unidentified high wire artists demonstrate that risking your neck need not necessarily be a spandex and sequence affair, that with little fashion sense, one can put their life on the line and still look fabulous. In truth, the Nat Reiss shows was more carnival than circus. When Mr. Reiss passed away in 1912, his eulogy in 'Billboard' read as follows: 'Though he never accumulated any great amount of money, never introduced any new or original features, methods or ideas, and never achieved any great success, he secured a name and standing that were enviable in the extreme; in fact, he just barely missed real fame.'
